Ravalli Republicans nominate three to fill county commission vacancy

The candidates speak to Ravalli Co GOP leaders Tuesday night. L to R: Menager, Burrows, Dethlefsen and Payne- KPAX TV photo by Dennis Bragg(HAMILTON)- Ravalli County commissioners could act as soon as next week to appoint someone to fill that vacancy on the board, selecting from three nominees forwarded by Republican leaders this week.

The Ravalli County Republican Central Committee met Tuesday night in Hamilton to select three people willing to be appointed to serve as an interim commissioner, and possibly fill the remainder of Matt Kanenwisher's term. Kanenwisher resigned at the end of May saying he needed to devote more time to his career instead of splitting his hours at the commissioners' office.

Precinct captains from all over the Bitterroot gathered to pick Hamilton small businessman Jeff Burrows as theire top pick, putting him on the list of three names for appointment but also selecting him to run in November. Clay Dethlefsen and Bill Menager rounded out the list, while the 4th candidate, Ken Payne didn't make the cut.
