Billings woman sentenced for "underpass shootout"

KTVQ photo(BILLINGS)- A Billings woman will send the next quarter-century in prison for shooting another woman in the head near at the 6th Avenue underpass over a year-and-a-half ago.

KTVQ reports 27-year old Crystal Lundberg was given the 35-year prison sentence in Yellowstone County District Court on Wednesday, with Judge Russell Fagg suspending 10-years of the sentence to the Montana Women's Prison.

Lundberg had been charged with attempted murder, but agreed to plead guilty to aggravated assault last spring.

Prosecutors accused Lundberg of shooting Lindsey Schmaing in the eye while their cars were side-by-side. Schmaing's husband returned fire, although he didn't injure anyone. He's serving a three year suspended sentence.
