Park bus driver recounts "scary" moments during Glacier slides

Glacier crews survey one section of slide damage last week- GNP photo by David Restivo(WEST GLACIER)- A shuttle driver who was caught in Tuesday's slides on the Going-to-the-Sun road says it was "really scary" when mud and water began pouring across the alpine highway, with rocks flying through the air during a sudden storm this past week.

25-year old Katie Brady is one of th bus drivers who naviagte the road on a regular basis during the summer months. Brady tells the Flathead Beacon many of the people in cars caught between the dozen slide areas weren't sure what to do and began backing up to get out of harm's way.

As many as 150-cars were on the alpine section of the road above The Big Bend when the slides started. Fortunately no one was injured.

Brady told the Beacon the slides were "very impressive" and knew she'd "never see something like that again", admitting she "hopes to not see something like that again."

Brady's phone recording of one slide was posted on Youtube the next day and has already had more than 9,000 views.

The Missoula woman says she's taking the experience as a warning to drive the road with more caution, especially during severe weather.
