The rough waters of the Alberton Gorge have been the site of many drownings over the years- KPAX TV photo by Tara Oster(ALBERTON)- Authorities have identified the man who drowned after he was thrown from a raft in Alberton Gorge over the weekend as a 49-year old Kalispell man.
KPAX TV reports Neil Albright was one two men thrown into the Clark Fork River when their raft tipped Sunday afternoon.
The Mineral County Sheriff's Office says Albright's friend managed to hold on to some ropes until he could be rescued. But Albright wasn't wearing a life jacket and couldn't be revived after he was taken from the water. Authorities aren't sure yet if alcohol may have been a reason for the accident.
