Mike Cooney sworn in as new Lt. Governor

(HELENA)- Mike Cooney has a new office to move into today, after being sworn in as Montana's 32nd Lt. Governor on Monday morning.

Cooney took the oath of office at 8 a.m. making Governor Bullock's appointment of the former Secretary of State and longtime Montana legislator official. Bullock had announced the appointment last week, picking Cooney to fill the post left with the departure of Angela McLean. Mclean said she was stepping down at the end of November to take a post with the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education.

Cooney said last week he was "truly honored" to be asked to fill the post.

The appointment comes as Bullock prepares to kick his 2016 re-election bid into high gear.
