Crash on I-15 kills man, starts wildfire

KRTV photo(CASCADE)- Authorities haven't yet released the identity of a man who died when his car crashed on Interstate 15 near Cascade Sunday.

KRTV reports the crashed happened around 3:30 pm when the driver overcorrected, cutting across the median and then overturning in a ditch. MHP says the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the wreck.

The vehicle burst into flames when it crashed, starting a wildfire along the freeway that burned up to 5-acres before it could be brought under control.

KRTV photo(VAUGHN)- The Montana Highway Patrol says one person was killed Saturday night when two vehicles collided on Interstate 15 near Vaughn, with one car catching fire.

KRTV reports the wreck happened around 7:25 p.m. near mile marker 288.

Troopers were still investigating, but say a Ford truck and a Subaru collided head-on, with one vehicle rolling and one catching fire. It wasn't immediately known which vehicle had burned. The collision happened in the northbound lanes of the freeway.

There was no initial indication as to whether slick roads may have been a factor.
