Washington man killed in Sanders County head-on

(HOT SPRINGS)- Montana Highway Patrol says a 21-year old Washington man was killed Sunday morning when the car he was in crossed the centerline and hit a truck near Hot Springs.

KPAX TV reports the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 28. 

Troopers say the driver of the Washington car had drifted to the right with the driver overcorrecting and sending the car across the highway, where it struck the on-coming pickup. 

The victim, who's name and hometown weren't immediately available, was flown to Kalispell but died later. Two women in the car were taken to Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains and were being treated for their injuries. 

Three people in the truck, all believed to be from Columbia Falls, were taken to area hospitals and later released. 


MHP says drowsy driver, or medical problem led to fatal Bonner crash

(BONNER)- Montana Highway Patrol troopers say it appears a 17-year old from the Potomac area either feel sleep, had a medical problem or passed out last Friday night, causing a wreck that killed a woman near Bonner.

KPAX TV reports the crash happened around 11:30 Friday night on Highway 200 northeast of Bonner. 

Troopers say the teen's car went over the centerline, where it hit another vehicle with three people inside. A 36-year old woman in that car wasn't wearing her seat belt. She was thrown from the wreck and died. The 41-year old man driving the car, and an 11-year old girl were belted, and were taken to St. Patrick Hospital for treatment. 

The teen was also taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. 


Couple injured when motorcycle hits mountain lion

(HELENA)- A Jefferson City couple are nursing injuries today after their motorcycle collided with a mountain lion on Interstate 15.

KXLH reports the accident happened Saturday evening between Clancy and Helena. Montana Highway Patrol troopers say the pair were heading south on the freeway when the lion ran onto the road. The wreck killed the animal. 

Neither the man nor the woman were wearing helmets when they were thrown from the bike. The husband was transported to Great Falls to be treated for head injuries. His wife was taken to the hospital in Helena. 



MHP investigating Sanders County crash that kills 2

(THOMPSON FALLS)- Montana Highway Patrol troopers are trying to piece together details of a Saturday night crash outside of Thompson Falls that killed two people and injured three others. 

The accident happened on the Prospect Creek Road when a pickup slammed head-on into a car carrying two adults and two small children. 

KPAX TV reports the wreck killed the 32-year old man who was driving the car, as well as a 23-year old woman. A 2-year old boy was seriously hurt and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A 4-year old girl was being treated at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains. 

Troopers say the 46-year old man who was driving the pickup was also injured in the collision. 


Second driver hurt in St. Ignatius wreck remains in critical condition

KPAX TV photo(ST. IGNATIUS)- Authorities say the 21-year old man hurt in the two-car wreck that killed a Missoula woman this weekend remains in critical condition. 

The 54-year old woman, who's name hasn't been released, was killed when the young man's SUV drifted over the centerline on Highway 93 just north of town. The head-on happened in the northbound lane.

KPAX TV reports the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the young man was taken to the hospital in Ronan where's he's still clinging to life.
