One person killed in crash outside Browning

(BROWNING)- Montana Highway Patrol troopers say driving conditions were "horrible" Tuesday afternoon when a car crashed and rolled outside Browning, killing one person.

KRTV reports the crashed happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Heart Butte Road a few miles south of Highway 2. Troopers say the driver of the vehicle lost control on the wet roads, sending the car into a barrow pit where it rolled over. Both people inside weren't wearing their seat belts and were thrown from the wreck. 

MHP says one died in the crash, the other was taken to the clinic in Browning.


Woman killed in Flathead crash

(EVERGREEN)- Investigators say a woman was killed when she turned in front of an on-coming pickup Wednesday in Evergreen.

KAJ TV reports the crash happened during the noon hour Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Sager Lane. Officers say the 67-year old woman tried to turn on a yellow light and her car was t-boned by the oncoming full-sized Ford pickup. 

The victim, who's name wasn't immediately released, wasn't wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. 


Two dead after crash outside Browning

(BROWNING)- Another serious crash involving a roll-over and no seat belts has claimed two lives near Browning.

KRTV reports the crash happened just after 10 Wednesday night west of Browning on U.S. 2.

Montana Highway Patrol says the driver swerved to miss a cow on the highway, causing the vehicle to rollover several times as it left the road. The 45-year old driver and a 50-year old passenger were both thrown from the car and died instantly. Two boys, ages 14 and 8-years old, were taken back to Browning for treatment. 

Troopers say none of the people in the car were wearing seat belts. 


Man who died in weekend Darby wreck was set to be married

(DARBY)- The man who died in a weekend rollover accident near Darby this weekend was just a month away from his wedding day. 

20-year old Jon Trouten wss among several people injured when the car the group was riding in failed to make it around a corner, rolling over and crashing through a fence north of town. 

Family members told KPAX TV Trouten was engaged in just a few weeks. 

MHP troopers say speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. Troopers say Trouten and the others were thrown from the wreck because they weren't wearing seat belts. 


Deadliest weekend on MT roads in 15-years

An Ovando man was killed in this crash off Highway 200 Sunday morningMontana Highway Patrol says this past weekend was the worst for traffic fatalities in 15-years, and the second worst on record. 

8-people were killed on state highways Saturday and Sunday, including five in a rollover outside Browning and two in Northwest Montana near Troy. Additionally, a Plains grandmother and her two grandchildren drowned when their car went into the Clark Fork River bringing the total to 11. But that accident isn't included in the state numbers because it happened on private property. 

KRTV reports quotes MHP troopers as saying of the 8-fatalities on state roads, only one of those people was wearing a seat belt. 

Overall, 93-people have been killed in traffic accidents in Montana this year, nearly twice the pace as two years ago.
